In the home building industry, balancing business demands with personal goals often feels like an uphill battle. Many builders, tied to the daily grind, struggle to find the time to focus on their dreams. However, Sam’s story shows that transformation is possible.

With the right systems, strong leadership, and community support, success is achievable and sustainable.

The Role of Systems and Strong Leadership in Home Building

One of our members, Sam, has had enormous growth. 

But one of the highlights for me was he was trying to achieve the goal of building their own family home for a long, long time and just could never get the time. He felt like he was always tied on-site, tied to the business. 

But having the right systems, processes and support and also realising what he needed to do to put in place to give him the freedom … he’s structured his business now.

He does only three to four days a week on-site. Well, he has for the last 12 months, and he’s put another two to three days into building their own family home. 

And they recently just moved in over the Easter holiday. 

So, what a massive achievement to have something like a goal like that on your cards for a long, long time. 

And then get the direction to be able to achieve, it’s phenomenal.

What I loved was that he got up at our live event and told the room about it. 

And as a business owner, it can be really lonely. 

You don’t get to celebrate your successes. 

You’re trying to give yourself a pat on the back, but often it’s easier to focus on what you’re doing wrong and not getting done rather than celebrating your wins. 

And for him to be able to stand up and tell the room what he’d been able to achieve and to see that reflected back to him was absolutely awesome. 

Building a Successful Team and Business Growth

That was a big win for him. But on top of that: 

  • he’s built his team 
  • he understands his numbers 
  • he’s got a huge amount of work in front of him 
  • he’s had the biggest turnover last year in business. 

So it just goes to show you that when you have access to the right community, the right people, the right advice, the right document templates, and all those types of things, you really can achieve whatever you want to achieve.

And how was that message from his apprentice that he read out to us in the room who was willing to give up his Saturday to come help him on site, like the team culture that you’ve built when you’ve got a team member who’s willing to put their time into a project to help you out, that’s incredible leadership and culture, it’s amazing.

You definitely don’t get that much.

Sam’s story proves that when home builders invest in the right strategies, they can enjoy professional success and personal fulfilment. 

His experience highlights the real potential for growth, balance, and achievement when you make the right moves.
