In the custom home building industry, family and community support can make a big difference. Wives and partners often step in and help, bringing new ideas and energy.

This blog looks at how their support can help family-run building businesses grow. We’ll share an inspiring story of one couple and how their journey shows the power of family and community in building their business success.

So something we’re incredibly proud of at Live Life Build and our other community is the wives and partners getting involved as well.

One of our members, Mia, has been with us a long time now, but just seeing her growth has been insane. But more importantly, her partner’s growth.

So, in business, it’s quite often—we see it a lot—that a wife or partner knows that the business needs something.

Generally, it’s the old-school builder who doesn’t want to put themselves out there or join up, and this was the case with Mia.

What was really awesome was Mia was showing up to the calls.

She was putting things into action.

She was totally out of her comfort zone.

She’s a nurse by profession. But she’d made a call that she was going to work in the business and help out, which we know so many wives and partners do with these family-run building businesses that we help.

She was starting to put things into practice. Then they came to our live event early last year, and Jake saw that all the other builders were exactly like him.

It was like he came out of his shell.

All of a sudden, he was showing up to the Zoom calls. And even to the point now where Jake’s face is what we’re seeing on social media, the turnabout has been absolutely amazing.

It’s been great getting to know them in this way and being able to help and support them and their families.

It just goes to show you, again, that when you’re around a community that you can relate to, like after coming to that live event, he got rid of all those old-school thoughts that he was on his own and that he should have known more and how to run a business.

Being able to build those connections with like-minded people, it’s just been next level.

Then he came on our Drive23 as well, and that took him to the next level again, but he’s addicted to it now.

One of the things we do in our other community is encourage Friday Wins and get people used to using social media or making videos.

Jake’s gone from not wanting to be involved at all to now showing up quite regularly, and it is just incredible to see.

The best news is that Mia has now left her job and works in the business with Jake. It’s just been incredible to see the change they’ve been able to create for their family.

The story of growth in custom home building shows how important family and community support are. When partners get involved, it can lead to great success.
