It’s not easy for custom home builders to balance family time and business growth. Juggling personal commitments, client needs, and project deadlines can be stressful. But, for long-term happiness and success, striking a balance between job and family is not only possible but also necessary.

In this blog, we’ll share the inspiring story of Luke, a custom home builder who has managed to grow his business while making time for his family. His experience offers practical advice and insights that can help you as a custom home builder achieve the same balance.

The Journey of Growth and Balance

Amelia

One of our long-term members, Luke, has grown so much. We’ve had a front-row seat to mentoring him and seeing the growth he’s achieved by putting into practice what he’s learned.

Again, he lives in a regional location. I had a whole heap of stories about what that could mean for him as a building business and its growth.

But what I’ve loved watching with Luke is his personal journey and how much he’s grown in the process of being around a community of like-minded people who are really cheering him on and helping him set a new standard for himself.

Duayne

His confidence is unbelievable, and as you said, it’s amazing to see his growth over the time he’s been with us. Still, in so many different areas—and we say this quite a bit—it is unbelievable what comes of understanding your numbers and going into every project and making money.

Just the amount of stress that that takes back and allows you to chill out and focus on other things. The success he’s had with his family now, he’s getting involved with children’s sports, He, himself, has been playing sports. It’s unbelievable.

Setting Personal Goals and Achieving Them

Amelia

Yeah, and in my conversations with Luke, he talks about, you know, he came with us on DRIVE23, and then we got to see him at the live event four or five months later.

Even to see how different he looked physically, it was like he’d lightened a load off, I’m actually just going to do things my way. I’m going to be in my lane. I’ve got what I want to do. I’ve got the goals that I want to achieve.

He’s at day 80 of a half-hour daily run he’s doing to raise money for charity. He’s managed to shuffle and rearrange his schedule so that he actually gets it done every single day.

Duayne

It’s truly unbelievable.

Amelia

It’s really inspirational, isn’t it?

Duayne

That shows you when you have everything around you that you need to be able to start running a successful business that you’re not tied to

Let’s face it: not too many people out there have a business. They just have a job.

Amelia

They’ve bought themselves a really badly paid, super stressful, very risky job.

Duayne

And they don’t know it. They don’t know what they don’t know.

To see members come on board like Luke and his growth is phenomenal. But again, like we’ve talked about a few times, to see that flow through to every other part of his life is, again, it’s given me goosebumps.

Amelia

It’s absolutely brilliant.

Luke’s story shows the power of having a supportive community and a clear plan.

By surrounding himself with helpful people and setting realistic goals, he has improved his work and personal life.

His experience highlights the importance of understanding your business, setting boundaries, and making time for self-care and family.
